Swiss Diamond induction
The Swiss producer of high quality cookware – Swiss Diamond – has an extensive product line of pots and pans suitable for induction stovetops. Swiss Diamond induction cookware not only impresses with an outstanding super durable non-stick coating but also with the fact that pots and pans will definitely never make a “buzzing sound” – thanks to the advanced technologies developed by HORT Coating Center. Induction-ready cookware usually has a steel core cast or stamped into the bottom. Since the steel core is one of the layers in the aluminum base cladding, the fast process of heating up and cooling down, which is the great advantage of induction stove tops, may cause the steel core to detach from the aluminum body. Detached and loose, the core in the bottom of the cookware then starts to vibrate when on the hot stovetop making unpleasant buzzing sounds. In worst cases, the cookware even starts to move on the stovetop. Swiss Diamond, however, developed a technology, which avoids this unpleasant side effect. Instead of a steel core, Swiss Diamond infuses steel in a thermic process applied on the exterior of the aluminum body of its cookware. Hence, the infused steel and the body are inseparable and buzzing sounds impossible.
Swiss Diamond cookware is a spin-off of the Swiss company HORT Coating Center AG, established in 1974 and specialized in advanced coating technologies. “It was quite natural that we backed on coating technologies for induction cookware as well”, explains Amir Alon, CEO and owner of Swiss Diamond International GmbH and HORT Coating Center AG. Joachim Stein, manager of HORT Coating Center AG and responsible for the production of Swiss Diamond products, further: “For more than 30 years our company specialized in high quality coatings. Today we produce coatings not only for cookware but also for the aerospace industry, for the watch-making industry and for medical engineering. Hence, it was a foregone conclusion to use a thermal technology to make our aluminum cookware induction-ready and not to cast or to stamp a metal core into the bottom.” Thus, HORT Coating engineers developed a process to make the non-ferrous aluminum bodies induction-ready. The essential advantage is that the magnetic steel is infused onto the entire bottom of the cookware. Thus, the energy is directly imparted onto the aluminum body. Another advantage is that Swiss Diamond cookware does not make a buzzing sound, as it is the case with other products. “We are very proud to be the technology market leader in the segment of induction-ready aluminum cookware”, explains Amir Alon. “Once again we played our cards right and were able to develop a product that outclasses our competitor’s products not only in terms of quality and durability but also in terms of technical innovativeness.”
Swiss Diamond International produces exclusively in the company’s own factory in Switzerland and supplies its products into about 38 countries worldwide. The company has its own distribution network in the USA, Japan, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland including independent distribution companies.
